Father Giuliiano passed away.
I met him in March 2005.
I was going on a concert tour with a
German Choir group, Kaufbeurer Martinsfinken
to accompany them as an organist.
I played with them the piece called " In Paradisum"
composed by Father Giuliano.
We had concerts in Niigata, Toyama, Ishikawa
and Osaka then.
It is a piece for the organ and the choir,
and it is such a beautiful music.
Father Giuliano was an Italian and lived in Wajima,
Ishikawa prefecture most of his life.
There in Wajima, I met him where there was a concert
with him.
This is a picture taken then, and the old man
in the middle is Father Giuliano.
He was such a warm-hearted person
and I had a chance to talk with him a lot.
In the following year in 2006, I had a concert
at Iwate where I
performed his music with the organ and the singing.
When I called him up on the phone
and told about this concert,
He sounded so happy and excited.
He asked me
"what kind of instrumentation and voice parts?"
He also said,
"Please make a recording and send it to me
when it is done".
He sounded so pleased and his voice was
full of high spirit.
I don't know whether we have any recording
of that concert ,
and as I became quite busy
with my own musical activities,
I failed to contact him after that.
That is my great regret now.
It was very impressive that his face was so brightened
that he could make music.
He was especially happy that he had got his
electric organ that he could perform.
While I think that he must have been lonely having
been so far way from his homeland,
I have a feeling that he was happy.
He was an excellent composer.
He has left us many instrumental music and songs.
I have an inner urge to hand down his beautiful music
to many people.
I have a feeling of responsibility that I should do this ,
being privileged to have known his music.
I have taken some organ parts from his choir music
"In Paradisum" andplayed it with my whole heart!
This is the best choice to send him off as the content
of the music perfectly fits to this occasion.
I have taken out this music score after a long time!
Please listen to it!
I sincerely wish that his soul may rest in peace.
Father Giuliano, please keep your eyes on me!
I thank you so very much!
